There are many shopping centers which include large grocery store chains, drug store chains and eateries within a short driving distance of the community. In Crystal River (a 15 minute drive) there is a large shopping mall featuring numerous national retail franchises and many specialty stores.
Beaches:
Fort Island Gulf Beach
Located west of Crystal River. Facilities include parking, shower facilities and a boat ramp. The sunset is free.
Pine Island Beach
Located 20 miles south of Sugarmill Woods. The beach offers: picnicking facilities and a refreshment stand serving soft drinks and sandwiches.
Fishing Information:
Year round fishing includes: black, bass, snook, redfish, sea trout and jack crevalle. There is a late-spring run of giant tarpon into the area. You can rent a boat, arrange fishing charters or of course, enjoy your own boat.
Hunting Information:
Natre and natural areas abound in the Central Florida area near Sugarmill Woods. Deer, squirrel, quail, wild turkey and a wide variety of waterfowl are plentiful. Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge (offering a limited season for bow hunters) and the Withlacoochee State Forest are both within five miles of Sugarmill Woods.
